Ludo Boxer Adult Female in Columbia, Missouri

My story
Hi everyone, my name's Ludo! I was very anxious when I first showed up at their house, but after a day, I settled in nicely and learned that I could really get used to the house life. I warmed up to everyone except my foster dad extremely quickly. I was a little hesitant of his alpha personality. However, the minute he threw me a tennis ball, I was his forever. We spent the whole weekend playing together and getting belly rubs! Well, I got the belly rubs, he got my kisses in return.

Along with playing, I got to do another one of my favorite things during my straycation: snuggling. Even though I'm a bit bigger than the average lap dog, I'm just as loving and want to be just as close to you. However, I understand when people need their personal space and am just as happy sleeping on the floor at your feet. My great snuggling skills even landed me a spot in my human's bed for a night!

Like most dogs, I am a better listener than most people. I'm even told I do the cutest little head tilt when my family talks to me. I love being around my people and am happy doing anything they are. There is one thing though, I hate when they leave! Once they tried to leave me in my crate while they left. Don't worry though, I managed to break out. My foster family thinks I'm such a smart gal though (I know how to sit, lay down and shake!) and my separation anxiety can be fixed with some stability and patient training. In the early stages of this training, I will definitely need a quality crate to make sure I cannot break out. Overall, I would probably do best in a home that doesn't leave me alone too long.

I had such a great time with my foster family during my straycation and I think they're really going to miss me. After a taste of the good life, I am so very excited to find the forever home that can give me the lifetime of love and playtime I deserve. In exchange, I promise my future adopters I will give them all my love and kisses and always make them laugh with my cute little quirks and happy demeanor."

-Takes baths without any troubles

-Super smart and eager to please

-Laid back for the most part, but still loves to play

-great at catching tennis balls

-Mostly walks well on the leash (sometimes she does pull when she sees another dog)

- Doesn't excessively bark (only when she get excited about her tennis ball)

- Loves people!

- Great snuggler

- confident and funny dog. Was friendly with all the new people she met

- Great manners, does not jump on people

- Not destructive at all unless left alone (she is working on her separation anxiety).

- minimal shedding

Needs Work

- needs refreshers on crate training and learning to be alone. When left alone, she became destructive with the blanket in her crate, and managed to pull her kennel door down. When left in the laundry room without her kennel, she chewed on the door knob and scratched at the door.

- could use some reminders to not pull on leash when encountering other dogs.

Ludo is a people's dog! She loves to play in the backyard and go on hikes. She would love an active family to tire her out and help her get back her slim figure. She especially loves tennis balls and to play fetch!

Ludo has been with CMHS for over 100 days!
