I've been spinning for almost 20 years. One of the first things I did was see how many different animals had fur that I could spin and make into yarn. I've tried multiple breeds of dogs, cats, curly horse, pygmy goat cashmere, angora goat, angora bunny, camel hair, sheep, llama and alpaca.
Yarn pictured is a heather gray blend of two Australian Shepherds 50% and wool 50%. Perfect for a winter cardigan :)

There's still time to send your dog (or other pet wool) and have a simple knit scarf made custom for you in time for winter. *A scarf will require at least 6 to 9 ounces of yarn. Example: 9 ounces chunky art yarn =$42 + ($50 to knit the scarf) =$92 with free shipping.
Dog hair, or chiengora (pronounced she-angora) can be blended with alpaca or other fibers to strengthen the yarn and reduce the "halo" effect. Blending with wool will add some elasticity, which might be needed for some knit garments.

All spinning prices below include washing, carding and skeining (ball or twisted yarn hank). Pricing varies according to type of yarn desired:
